MAGIC 101
Within this story we call life
All have a part to play.
A tortured soul who leaves his mark;
A long soliloquy.
Or the child who leaves his marbles out
And clueless, foils the thief.
And Magic lives…
Though evil falls with vicious wrath
Yet, still, the scales must balance:
Great acts of bravery and desperation,
small miracles of kindness on the path.
The pain of loss that must expand our souls
Must reach out to fill the voids with love.
And Magic builds…
All unkind acts that break our hearts
And strip away the comfort in our souls
Increase the gnawing loneliness inside
Burning away all selfishness
And leaving us only love.
And Magic grows…
And then there are the special ones
Whose love grows greater every time it’s shared
Who harness the power of their own loneliness
To fill the empty hearts with joy –
A unicorn who loves a wayward centaur
A dragon lord who must be with his maid.
And Magic rejoices…
Oft’ times, an unexpected servant
May turn the tides of fate with just one word
And joy fills all the cracks put there by evil
And glues them shut and leaves them whole once more.
And so…
The scales of life are balanced,
For love will never rest until they are.
And…
Such is Magic.

I think it’s all a part of that ‘life going full circle’ thing… When I was little, I used to ask my mum to give me ideas for poems, and she did. I wrote masses of them from the time I was about 9 years old.
Mum’s no longer here to give me ideas (although, sometimes, in my dreams, she does!)
I used to feel guilty about spending time reading friends’ posts on FaceBook every morning… but I have finally realized that it’s a source of pure gold dust for me!
This one was courtesy of your dragon pic this morning, Colleen! Thank you for the inspiration. ♥
